Advanced ultrasonography examinations for quick diagnosis and treatment for obstetric and gynecologic concerns
IGO Medical uses advanced ultrasound imaging technology to administer examinations. Your test will be performed by a registered diagnostic medical sonographer, or by your physician or nurse practitioner. The most common type of ultrasound is called two-dimensional (2D). Specialized types of ultrasounds that we provide include Doppler ultrasound, three- and four-dimensional (3D and 4D), and sonohysterography.
Ultrasound is energy in the form of sound waves that are sent through the body by a transducer. These sound waves hit tissues, body fluids, and bones and then bounce back, like echoes. The transducer receives these echoes and converts them into images of internal organs and — during pregnancy — the fetus. Ultrasound can be used to diagnose and monitor certain problems such as pelvic masses, breast lumps, abnormal bleeding, pelvic pain, or infertility. It can also be used in pregnancy to monitor the fetus.
