Philip E. Young, M.D.
Dr. Young is one of the founding physicians of IGO Medical Group. He received his training in Obstetrics and Gynecology from Harvard Medical School and the Boston Hospital for Women. After completion of his training in 1970, he served two years in the U.S. Navy at Long Beach, California and subsequently was on the full time Medical School faculty at the University of California at San Diego from 1973 to 1979. Since then, he has been in full time private practice in San Diego and is also a Clinical Professor of Reproductive Medicine and UCSD School of Medicine. His particular interests are gynecologic surgery, infertility diagnosis and treatment including IVF, and hormone regulation in the menopause. Dr. Young has written extensively on laparoscopic surgical techniques and on reconstructive surgery for infertility. Frequently consulted as an expert witness in the field of obstetrics and gynecology, he has also participated as a primary investigator in several research studies. Dr. Young has been a frequent guest on radio and television talk shows on issues of infertility, and is a popular lecturer on female healthcare, covering such topics as the biological time-clock and the stages of a woman's life.

Stephen A. Hebert, M.D.
Dr. Hebert is originally from California and received his postgraduate training in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of California at San Diego Medical Center. He has served on the full time faculty in the Department of Reproductive Medicine at the UCSD Medical Center and served as Chairman of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla. Dr. Hebert has been in private practice at IGO Medical Group since 1984. His practice focuses on complete gynecological and obstetrical care. Dr. Hebert is dedicated to providing his patients with the highest quality medical care in a comfortable and relaxed setting.

Malachi E. Ted Quigley, M.D.
Born in Canada, Dr. Quigley received his medical degree and postgraduate training at the University of Western Ontario Medical School in London, Ontario, Canada. After completing his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of California Medical Center in San Diego, Dr. Quigley joined the staff at the UCSD Department of Reproductive Medicine for four years before joining a successful private practice in San Diego for ten years. Dr. Quigley then joined IGO Medical Group in 1993. Dr. Quigley has a special interest in the hormonal management of PMS, perimenopause and menopause, and andropause (male hormonal changes of mid-life). He is dedicated to providing his patients with complete healthcare where the patient plays an active role in determining the course of action.

Jon H. Lischke, M.D.
Dr. Lischke received his training in obstetrics and gynecology at the Stanford University and UCLA Medical Centers. While an officer in the United States Army, he was a battalion flight surgeon in Viet Nam and later assigned to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Presidio in San Francisco. Dr. Lischke began his private practice in La Jolla in 1975 and joined IGO Medical Group in 1999. Keerti Gurushanthaiah, M.D.
Dr. Gurushanthaiah graduated magna cum laude from the University of California, Irvine. She received her medical degree from UC San Diego and completed her postgraduate training at the New York Hospital - Cornell University Medical Center in Manhattan. During her residency, she was selected to receive the Distinguished Housestaff Award for Obstetrics and Gynecology. Prior to joining IGO Medical Group in 2000, Dr. Gurushanthaiah was a member of the full time faculty at the UCLA School of Medicine. In addition to caring for patients at UCLA Medical Center, Dr. Gurushanthaiah participated in the education of OB/GYN residents and medical students.

Susan S. Westerlund, M.D.
Dr. Westerlund was raised in the northern Midwest, and received her medical degree from the University of North Dakota in 1993. She went on to pursue her post-graduate training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Medical Center in Washington, D.C. While at Georgetown she conducted research in intrauterine fetal growth, and was recognized for excellence in teaching by the Georgetown University School of Medicine. Dr. Westerlund relocated to Charlottesville, Virginia, where she enjoyed private practice in general obstetrics and gynecology for four years before accepting a position with us here in San Diego.

Valerie V. Gafori, M.D.
Dr. Gafori received a bachelor's degree in Physics from MIT in 1993, a master's degree in Biology from Stanford University in California in 1995, and her medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School in 1999. She went on to pursue her post-graduate training at George Washington University in Washington, D.C., graduating in 2003 after winning the OB/Gyn Resident of the Year award. She enjoyed private practice at Northern Virginia Gynecologists for one year, specializing in general gynecology and obstetrics, before relocating to San Diego and accepting a position with us at IGO. Dr. Gafori is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology. Her practice at IGO encompasses the full breadth of women' health, with interest in both obstetrics and gynecology. Heather E. Gunnarson, M.D.
Dr. Gunnarson has attended California schools in Escondido, San Diego, Long Beach and San Francisco. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of California at San Diego (UCSD) in 1997, and received her medical degree from the University of Cqalifornia at San Francisco (UCSF) in 2002. While at UCSF, she received honors and awards in high risk obstetrics, gynecology, and family medicine. Dr. Gunnarson returned to San DIego for her post-graduate training at UCSD, where she was elected Administrative Chief Resident. She completed her residency in 2006, spceializing in obstetrics and gynecology. She enjoys travel and recently spent time in Mexico caring for indigent patients. IGO is pleased to have Dr. Heather Gunnarson.
